FOX to Promote Sarah Connor Chronicles During World Series

This is great news. It looks like FOX is not going to be sitting on their laurels and hope people tune into The Sarah Connor Chronicles when it premieres in January 2008. Instead, they’re doing a major media blitz, and in fact, if you were watching Game 7 of the ALCS between Boston and Cleveland last night, you might have caught a couple of SCC commercials where an unseen Terminator searches for Sarah Connor by ID’ing all the faces in the crowd.
MediaBuyerPlanner has more on FOX’s upcoming promotions, including a gig during the World Series between Boston and Colorado!
Midseason rookie The Sarah Connor Chronicles will get a 45-second trailer during Game Three of the World Series, along with “bugs” that will run during other programming over the next few months.
It will be the first in what is expected to be a massive promotional blitz for the show that Fox believes will be its best freshman effort, writes Broadcasting & Cable.
The campaign for the show will include graphics that take over the bottom portion of the screen during other programs. The bugs will get more specific as the time for the premiere gets closer. They will include the premiere date, the show’s URL, and/or the time the show will air - Mondays at 8 p.m., just before 24.
Fox’s midseason is not an also-ran as it is at other networks. Fox essentially begins its season in each January, with American Idol. It also has midseason stars like the Super Bowl and college football’s Bowl Championship Series.
This is really great news. A big push by FOX means they’re willing to spend money on the show, which should translate well into big numbers during the premiere. Or, at the very least, it will mean they’re going to give it their all to make SCC the success that it deserves to be.
