It’s Official: FOX Renews Sarah Connor for Season 2
By Sam (Admin) | April 22, 2008 (12:30 am) | More: Featured, Sarah Connor Chronicles TV Show News
I wasn’t sure if I should even post this, as I already did a similar post a not that long ago basically saying the same thing, but just in case: Yes, it’s official — FOX has renewed The Sarah Connor Chronicles for a second season. It’s not a surprise to us at all, as I always thought FOX just had too many reasons to renew it, and barely any reasons NOT to. With that said, we can expect to have new episodes of The Sarah Chronicles in the Fall of 2008, when most of the shows return to TV land.
More:
“Connor” premiered in January as a midseason drama, but Fox is shifting the show to its fall lineup for next season. The network on Monday handed a 13-episode order to the sci-fi drama, an extension of the “Terminator” feature franchise. The series revolves around Sarah Connor (Lena Headey) and her son, John (Thomas Dekker), as they battle enemies from the future with the help of a goodhearted terminator, Cameron (Summer Glau).
The show has been okayed for the initial 13 episodes, and 9 more will follow when the season is well under way. I think it’s a pretty safe bet that the show is going to get a full season. Again, there just isn’t ANY GOOD reason to cancel or stop production halfway into Season 2, just as there were no good reasons to not renew the show.
Also, expect The Sarah Connor Chronicles to land on another night, since I’m not sure if FOX wants to put T:SCC up against NBC’s Heroes. Which is good for me, as I watch both religiously, and watching them live is just so much better than on a DVR.

Be prepared. I’m watching at you.

thanks m8
Kenny i have watched every episode from http://www.tvokay.com they have it all even movies and shit but u will definately find it there fast and free thanks
so glad they r making a season 2 too few good sci-fi series made these days hope we don’t have to wait too long here in the uk for it bout time the doctor n torchwood had some decent competition
I think that Cameron gets out of the car seconds before it blows up and chases after that guy. Sarah and John run out of the house thinking that Cameron has been blown up but then Cameron appears.
Maybe that is! But even if she was blown up in the car, I don’t think she would be that badly damaged and she would probably recover quite quickly. It wouldn’t be the same show without Cameron.
Anyway, I can’t wait for season 2 even though it’s about 4-5 months to wait.
that long do ya no what month roughly
I read somewhere that the filming of the new season will begin in June this year, then the first of the new episodes will begin in October. I hope it begins sooner though, I can’t wait!
yea 2 rite was proper pissed wen it went off right at the good bit aswell thanks for telin me m8
Hello. So…the next season will begain in October ? This is the official date ? I found in the net information that start production…at the 2009 year ?
thats good wish it was sooner tho
The first season is going to be out on DVD shortly, according to amazon.com. I wish season 2 had more than 13 guaranteed episodes; Fox is creating its own little drama around the decision to continue the series. There are so many possible story lines and character arcs now, and with new characters being planned to be intoduced in the 2nd season, it would be too bad if there were an early cancellation. Another thought on the cliffhanger episode from season one: If Cameron didn’t make it out of the car, her endoskeleton would probably survive the blast, but her outer covering of flesh could be badly damaged. She couldn’t fulfill her assignment of protecting John without regaining her normal (actually better than normal) human appearance, and that would make it necessary for her to get the formula for accelerated skin growth that the evil terminator used to repair himself earlier.
cool cant wait til it cumes out on dvd
Okay here’s a possible scenario. I’m a writer, just to introduce myself and we work in the realm of mythology, archetypes, both ancient and modern, call us shamans or dreamers.
The plot device the writers are using is derived partly from the Wizard of Oz. There’s a clue in the second episode where Cameron says, I know what the tin man is, he needed a heart. She is intimately familiar with the story, John used to talk about it a lot, so there’s another clue here as to why future John sent Cameron back in her present form. Then in the close we have the new names, the surname is Baum, after L Frank Baum the creator of the Wizard of Oz.
Now for those familiar with the story we have the tin man who needed a heart, which equates with compassion or mercy. The lion who needed courage, which equates to boldness, and the straw man who needs a brain, or intellect. Cameron needs a heart, Sarah needs brains because let’s face it, she gets into some stupid scrapes, and John needs courage because he really can’t accept his fate as future leader of mankind.
So Sarah has the courage, John has the heart, because he cares for the girl Jordan who committed suicide and he also cares for Cameron, a cyborg. On the other hand we have Sarah who is also courageous but she is failing, the constant battle to survive is telling on her, enter Cameron, a machine which doesn’t know fear and is single minded, the original valkyrie.
The point being that in order to defeat the evil skynet they need all three qualities and in the final ordeal/resurrection they may find they have each gained, heart, courage and brains from each other.
In the Wizard of Oz we had the characters gaining what they needed and in TSCC I think these characters will need to gain these things from each other.
Tis only suggestion and it’s open for comment but having seen them again I’m more than convinced that Cameron is struggling to find a heart or at least define emotional committment, John is struggling to find courage and Sarah is trying to out think her opponents. Future John has a relationship of sorts with Cameron because just before he takes the chip out of her head she says, it’s okay John WE’VE done this before.
These three figures are on their way to the Emerald City, with Derek, who represents the dark shadow, he hates the machines and Cameron senses his hatred. We have Ellison who is another shadow figure who may become an ally because he has seen the reason for Sarah’s apparent illogical behaviour and we have Cromartie who is on John’s tail.
But what is the Emerald City of TSCC? Is it a new kind of future where robots live in harmony with humanity? Is it an apocalyptic future where Cameron becomes decidedly paranoid and goes off the grid and reconfigures herself?
A clue might be found in the final scene where we have that Johnny Cash song about the white horse, the rider named death and hell followed behind, but after that if we read the bible we have a new heaven and earth.
There’s definitely a second mission for Cameron though, remember in episode two she is asked does she take orders from John and she says not this John, not yet. That tells me that future John has plans that he can’t reveal just yet because his past self isn’t ready yet. She is watching though, when he was analysing Vic’s chip and realised how they store memories she suddenly looks alert, it’s like she’s thinking, how long did it take for you to work that out or maybe, oh, so that’s how I operate?
Perhaps I’m just playing around but hey feel free to comment. I’m looking at this from a writer’s point of view.
Cheers,
Alastair
Hey Asroie, yes, I agree with you on your comment about TSCC correlate itself with The Wizard of Oz, I mean like you said if your a writer or someone that is completely aware of The Wizard of Oz would put the 2 and 2 together. Well the thing is the newer generation are not aware of that but for us GenX girls and gals and somewhat aware or grew up with good literature would figure that out, but the younger viewers haven’t a clue, unless they are expose to that. You and I are completely aware of that. Your a writer so you know, I’m not a writer but I know literature.
Emerald City, a place of peace ( Utopia ) where man and machine co-exist, hmmm? I highly doubt this in this franchise, it kind of defeat the purpose of this show and franchise. I will only speculate what the writers or even FOX decides to do, but I can guarantee ya it’s going to be a buildup towards the T4 Salvation movie. It’s America, they are just trying to crank up as much cash as they can but not with the subtleties of substance on the way there. Feel free.
Flyingfish
Hah a kindred spirit, flyingfish!
Well the similarities are certainly there and I know what you mean about cranking up as much cash as possible. But I’m thinking along the lines of two different timelines or alternative futures, kind of like Sliding Doors, the choices we make today dictate the future we find tomorrow.
T4 is obviously a sequel to T3, but TSCC seems to me to be partly a vehicle for T4 but also a possible alternate future if they remain true to the plot line. Not sure how closely they’ll follow Wizard of Oz but there is a thing called foreshadowing whereby you suggest certain things, they are often throwaway lines that are only recalled at a critical point in the movie, series, book. In the second episode Sarah makes a reference to Cameron as the Tin Man and later on Cameron comes back and says I know what the Tin Man is, he needed a heart. You then go into this conversation about the Wizard of Oz and how Sarah used to read it to John every night. At the close you see the second name Sarah has chosen, Baum, after the writer.
Now that is foreshadowing, if the writers decide to develop a different timeline they have set it up early on. It could be a red herring and that too comes into it as well. In the final episode Cameron asks if she has a birthday.
The way the character is developing though, you can see that she is questioning her identity, she points out the place where she will be built, she saves a lump of Coltan, hides the chip and when John asks if he really wants to know what’s on Vic’s chip she says I’ll tell you later. And when he suddenly stumbles on the way her brain operates as he’s hacking the chip she gives him a strange look. It’s a look that says to me, “he is beginning to understand.”
Well all this is semantics I guess, we’ll have to wait and see how it all turns out but I think it would be a brave step to launch into a world where robots and people live side by side, it means that it’s not stuck in the same old mold. I’ve just bought the four Alien movies and it’s case of same old same old, even though I do like them. But the strength of the Terminator franchise will be shown if they can take the Terminator theme and take it in a new direction or if I’m correct, two alternate directions given that there’s talk of a T4 T5 and T6.
Anyway gotta go, working on the next novel.
Cheers,
Alastair
