Here’s a preview for some future episodes of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which will return after the Winter Break on February 13, 2009. One word: Kyle Friggin Reese. Oh man, I hope they don’t screw this one up, because let’s face it, the potential for FUBARing this is monumental. Introducing Derek Reese into the timeline was risky enough (although I have to admit, he has really worked out in the context of the show), but bringing Kyle himself back and into the present … man, that’s gonna be pretty tricky. I just hope they know what they’re doing.
Plus, the Kyle Reese they got to replace Michael Biehn sure doesn’t look a whole lot like Michael Biehn. But I guess this Kyle Reese is supposed to be younger, the little brother of Derek Reese. Then again, it could just be a figment of Sarah Connor’s imagination, since the last time we saw her, she was doing some serious bleeding. But wait: if it’s just Sarah’s imagination working overtime, what’s the deal with the doctor being able to see Kyle, too? Oh man, I’m confused.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles returns on February 13, 2009 with all new episodes. Plus a new timeslot on Fridays. God help the machines.

I suggest something to tell 2 Seeing-twins:
If you saw all the terminator saga and think about what all the good guys said (Reese from 1 and Arnie from 2 and 3) the real mission is to protect the connors (sarah and john, with kate brewster on 3) not to stop skynet. stop skynet was a sarah connor’s idea to prevent the judgment day. she herself took it like a personal mission, and trained john if she can’t due the mission.
The real mission of the terminator saga was and stills be one “protect john connor”
I read all your comments and I can see a land of confussion here.
I’m try to get to compiling the main idea. is all about if is good idea or not to bring Kyle back. out of the discussion, maybe is true that the writers are running out of ideas and tried hard to made a good season, but the critics from us (the fans) doesn’t help.
My personal opinion is Skynet was builted from a several parts from many companies and military offices including contractors around U.S. maybe some small contractor made a piece, some insignificant part (like Cameron said) could restart the judgment day, and the main idea is to keep Connor alive to lead the Human Resistance.
According with mendez, i preffer to wait until the season resumes and let’s see what our beloved cast and crew brings to us. Stop the speculations, give all the TSCC Cast, Crew and Fans (like me) a rest!
Jesus… let’s just wait and see what this new episodes will bring to us die-hard fans of TSCC and let’s not speculate about things whe dont know yet.
The writers are throwing too many new characters and situations into the mix without following through on any of them. The danger is that the story spreads wider and wider without actually moving forward. I always thought that the back story on “X-Files” got out of control, with too many loose ends that never got explained. Also there was a continuing series called “Twin Peaks” that threw so many twists into the plot that it eventually became impossibly convoluted and incomprehensible. Do the writers have a goal in mind? Is TTSCC have a destination, or is it all about prolonging the journey?
i thort it would just be a dream too but why was the doctor talking to him she said \”your not dead…r u johns father?\”
yea their r only four ppl in that scene but i think the person above was saying that it was kyile there not john. i duno
as for who dies, was the james ellison lying seemingly dead on the ground when they were out in the stars? and derek turned him over?
it would be kool if kyile came back but i dnt really no how theyd do that..
does anyone know what happend to Cheri Wesin from seaosn one? the girl john appeared to like who had a “dodgy” past?
@nywahi
What are you talking about? Kyle is not in the scene in which Sarah, John, Cameron, and Derek are staring up at the sky. There’s only FOUR people in that scene.
I’m pretty sure “Kyle” is a hallucination or a dream that Sarah’s seeing in order to guide herself out of trouble. (she just got shot after all)
Kristin from E Online said that Kyle Reese has a “strong presence” in Episode 2.14 – but that he’s not meant to be a regular character. I doubt that they’d bring the real Kyle back for one episode and then kill him off again. Also, note the term “presence” – implying “not actually there physically.”
i agree that if kyle is sent back then it won’t stuff up the timelines, because as said in a previous reply, the fact that they keep on changing the future means various timelines would be created so john is still born because the kyle who was sent back to protect sarah was from a differnt timeline.
in one of the episodes recently screend, there was the story with jessie and derek and how he was captured and experimented on by that guy for the machines to learn how to interact with humans, and yet derek didnt remember even tho jessie said it was all he ever talked about then it was brought up that maybe they were from seperate timelines and it had happend in jessies but not in dereks
in one of the episode from season two
I hope the Kyle part is just a dream that Lena is having, otherwise I’ll be very, very confused.
As much as I like the character of Kyle Reese and his portrayer Jonathan Jackson, I hope the writers do a good job of explaining how Kyle is still alive.
Kyle is real, if you watch the February promo Kyle shows up talking to Sarah, talking to that doctor, moving blinds to look out the window and then standing outside looking at the stars with Derek, Sarah, and Cameron.
The only thing I can think of to explain how Kyle got here is that someone did something with his body back when he “died”. I know of plenty of cases where doctors do things without consent to living patients so it isnt too far fetched to think that they would take the body of some Joe Doe that doesnt appear to have anyone left behind to miss him.
I hope the second half of the season is better than the first half was, I had such high hopes for this show after the first season.
Riley and Jesse need to go, they have irritated me since day one.
No more new terminator of the week.
The first season all the shows built on eachother to build a story and this season all the shows are seperate without any connecting themes.
The main characters need to spend more time together, characters to everything on their own and sometimes dont even show up at all.
Ellison and Weaver need to do something interesting or be killed off.
The writers need to focus on the established characters and not bring in new characters every week.
I’m with the peeps who said Kyle is a cyborg–or at least on his way to 1984. I’m sure that’s just supposed to be part of the opening for season 3 and will set us up for the next arc–also, yes, as many have said, the “UFOs” are HK demos.
I’m also interested in Jesse. Esp. if she comes from a different future than Derek. She asked him at one point, “Do you think there is ever a future where we don’t love each other?” And that line totally gave me chills. What the heck is she up to?
I think poor Riley is gonna have to be booted out or killed in this next ep because she doesn’t have anything more to offer any of the characters (even if wrist-cutting was a ploy for attention/ cry for help etc).
Whatever happens, I’m excited for the show to begin again!!!
Good luck, Cast and Crew!!
i think its going to be good
“…season one and the first couple of episodes offered so many interesting plots ..”
obviously i meant to say season one and the first couple of episodes of season two ^^
They really should go back to the roots aka back on track. season one and the first couple of episodes offered so many interesting plots that they just didn’t go back to.
For instance they should work on Camerons cpu being damaged much more continously. Sooner or later John will have to learn how to fix her for good, and while I am 100% for fixing her LATER in order to keep the tension in that plotline I just can’t understand why they don’t use MORE of that in the HERE AND NOW. Allison ep was great after all – but then they dropped it again…
As for the UFOs, even if they turn out to be the airborne Terminators in development WE DO NOT NEED THEM NOW there is enough plot lines left open.
One thing I believe they are truly doing RIGHT is not to rush the Connors / Weaver confrontation. If john and Cameron are the nucleus of the future resistance, weaver and her “baby” are the same for skynet. having them fight it out would kill the main story arc way to quickly and after weavers untimely demise we’d be left with the TX of the week instead of the tripple8 of the week. THANK GOD THEY DID NOT DO THAT SO FAR.
What I do not understand though is why they don’t play around more with the Connors not knowing about Weaver. It would be so nice to have them eliminating pawn after pawn only to gradually realise that some much more serious “brains” must be behind the machines activities in the present. The search for that brain (weaver) could be used as an overall ark similar to the turk in season one.
basically I guess the writers don’t trust enough in what they began developing sucessfully in season one so now, to the disgust of most the fans they try to go fancy way to much in an vain attempt to hit a gold mine by accident. They HAD ONE, and as of now, they are filling it with rubble instead of mining it.
As a last remark, wouldn’t be to suprised if Fox putting on the preasure due to ratings is responsible for most of this crap…
I’ll watch it for as long as it goes and refuse to give up hope… but I do fear for season three if they keep this up.
The budget cuts are no excuse. Honestly, the terminator du jour blowing up stuff and chasing John is getting silly. You can tell a great story with a handheld video camera, if the characters and the story are solid (aka, Blair Witch Project). Another prime example of a low budget entertainment source: a book!
I wish they would stop introducing new characters and build the ones they have. “Heroes” started adding new supers willy-nilly and that became a mess too. It all comes down to good story telling, not big budgets.
i cant wait this is going to be awsome i just cant wait till cameron and t1001 fight that will be soo cool i wish cameron would be involved more
I think, that Kyle Reese as everytime part of the show would be too much. I hope he just makes a litle stop on his way to 1984.
I want to see Cameron and John fall in love, well, when this fake girlfriend of him is out of the way, of course.
Budget cuts and sending the show to Friday sounds not good.
I hope there are at least 4 seasons of TSCC, hopefully more.
It would be sad if this very entertaining show would end soon, there are too many questions at the moment.
i actually dont care what they rly do with the show as long as they dont kill off cameron.
and for everyone whos making such a big deal out of the UFO’s its just a way to bring in the “3-dots” plot… its not like they’re saying they’re real or anything. everyones seriously overthinking this. i dont see why kyle is such a big problem.. just do what i do: watch and enjoy.
if u dont want to then i would just stop watching? I mean seriously, if you’ve lost faith in the show and don’t like where its going then theres no need to stress out about it.
Ok, as much as I am a die-hard terminator fan and support it by watching the show, to me, things are getting really bad. To be literal it is starting to SUCK. I loved every episode up to “Mr. Ferguson is ill Today,” but after that it went way down. It feels like the writers, producers, directors, etc. are running out of ideas so they try to make stuff up that tries to blend in with the terminator universe. I know they are doing their best to stay true to the franchise and keep the loyal fans. Man, I hope next year is better. I will support this show to the end, but I won’t get my hopes up for every new T:SCC episode that airs anymore. I agree with fastpunk when he/she says “back on track” because that is what they really need to do.
I agree this sucks ever since Cromarte went down the show as gradually gotten bad I am a big fan of Kyle Reese but I just can’t see how putting Kyle in the show on a regular bases is going to make things better this show is going to die very quickly if things do not improve soon which is a shame the show had so much potintail I am truly sad I have always tried to be the optomis on here but it really has been hard to be optomistic lately hopfully things improve in febuary beacuse if they do not we may not even get a ending to this series I hope I am wrong and things improve I hope I am wrong I reallly do
Yeah and stop you TERMINATOR of the week policy – which you promised and stuck to last season.
the funniest thing about this or not so funny thing about this for me is this was my greatest fear for this show after I watched the pilot Sarah blew off Cromarte’s head and I thought he is dead already and they showed Vick in the preview and I thought at that moment there just going to have a different Terminator every week I actually think killing Cromarte was a bad move beacuse look what we have now we have a different Terminator every week and it is really getting old I do not mind when they add new Terminators but they should not do it every week at least when Cromarte was around we had a reoccoreing threat to the connors now that he is gone we just can’t get the threa level high enouvh to keep things intreasting I now Catherine Weaver is there but Sarah and company do not know about her and as far as I can tell she is oblivous to there exsistiance or she just chooses to ignore them which does not make since put the Connors up agaisnt Weaver now that would be inteasing and certainly less contorversoal than bringing Kyle back
I love Kyle, honestly. But I still think the writers are in over their heads.
Here are our possible explanation for Kyle’s nonsensical appearance: he’s just a dream (which doesn’t explain that dumb nurse), or he could be a cyborg made to look like him (most likely explanation so far), or that he’s from a possible future where he wasn’t sent back to ‘84 (which doesn’t make much sense).
As for the ‘aliens’ issue. I seriously doubt they’d dropped at least 50 IQ points since last episode and had the gall to do something so stupid. I think that particular organisation Sarah hunting is responsible for making HKs and when the machine are taken out for test runs sci-fi fans think they’re ‘alien vessels’.
Josh Friedman, there are a LOT of pissed fans out there. And I’m sorry but if Kyle’s back, for good, and not just a guest star appearance (which I love) I’m going to go into my room and watch Stargate Sg-1 reruns until T4 comes out. Please win me back.
And stop it with your RESISTANCE FIGHTER OF THE WEEK policy.
I think I said part of your argument in an earlier post
FOlks…both young and old, it’s easy to be a critic. Our beloved TSCC has had it’s budget cut! No more special effects and big explosions! The writers have had to come up with stories within budget constraints. In Show Business time is money. And to come up with interesting story lines with captivating scenes on an ever shrinking budget takes a lot of talent and genius. If your a fan, then I suggest that you communicate with Fox by writing emails expressing your support and devotion to TSCC, and by helping increase the number of viewers so that the remainder of episodes can have a budget increase, resulting in a third year! I don’t know about you, but I need at least one more year of Cameron(Summer Glau) to move my emotions.
Give me a break. You assume people need big time special fx to feel entertained, which indeed, cost a lot of money. Some of us just want to see the main plot pick up and move somewhere and some solid dialogs. Because it’s hard to justify all these detour episodes, which, surprise surprise, cost a lot of money to make. Maybe that money should have been put into episodes that actually move the plot forward. When a show feels pointless you’re bound to lose viewers, so don’t blame it on the budget cuts. They need to get this thing back on track and make do with what they have, not waste money on pointless detours.
Any series that has time travel as its premise has to proceed carefully; it’s too easy for the writers to outsmart themselves, creating paradoxical situations, mindnumbing complications and storylines that continually loop back on themselves. Throw in the possibility of more than one future arising from our present and the complications become endless. If a deceased character like Kyle Reese can be brought back to life by tweaking the timeline, then almost anything is possible, anything can be changed, and a “happy ending” is meaningless because there is no ending in a universe that can always be altered. There’s another problem with time travel fiction, and it’s related to chaos theory: one seemingly small and insignificant event has consequences and repercussions far beyond what any casual observer could ever predict. There’s a Ray Bradbury short story about big game hunters traveling back in time to hunt a T Rex, preselected because it was going to die on that day anyway. One of the hunters steps off the path and accidentally kills a butterfly. When the hunters travel forward to their own time they discover that their world has been completely altered simply because they had killed an insect that wasn’t destined to die at that moment. Going back in time with the plan to alter just one event doesn’t take into account how interconnected everything is, how impossible to predict the consequences of one action in a world where all our fates are interwoven in unpredictable ways.
There is no need to worry about Kyle coming back messing up with the timeline. The actions in present time changes the future, everybody agrees. So if the actions in the present lead to a change of startegy of Skynet, i.e. it will not send the first Terminator to kill Sarah, Kyle would not be sent to save Sarah neither. If you ask how come John is fathered by Kyle then, the answer is that you cannot change the past, and that first Kyle came back from another “Timeline”. Didn’t you see the first movie ever (Sarah:”So are you from future too”? Kyle (in frustration):”One of your possible futures. I don’t know tech stuff”).
Hey, and if you want to give yourself a headache about it, what would be the deal of stopping Skynet in the first place if we know that already a Terminator was sent back in time to kill Sarah, therefore concluding that Skynet will be created and will wage war, etc.
Time travel is paradoxical in nature. So
just relax and enjoy.
Yes, it would be great to have a more detailed view of what is happening in future as we go. Seems the writers have a vision: Skynet wanted to kill the FBI agent, why? And what’s the deal of teaching morals to JH? It’s intriguing double play now.
This story has gone from cool to silly pretty fast. I understand they are trying to toughen up Sarah, but it isn’t working. The fact is Cameron was the most intriguing part of Season one and now she is little more than Marvin the Paranoid Andriod.
I don’t want to see the series fail but the number of characters from the future has gotten out of hand. My suggestion:
1) Stop sending people and things back from the future. We have plenty of nasties in the here and now. Remember stop Sky-Net was the mission.
2) Take some time to explore characters, Lord knows if the current John Connor is supposed to save us, we are all screwed.
3) Cameron is the other story and she works. She so far is the only character that has an interesting albeit slow moving back-story. Allison was a good episode, one of the few from this season.
4) Sarah Connor has to do something other than go nuts and be over protective. Go watch the first 2 movies, have a beer then start writing her lines. Maybe, she could try to stop Sky-Net and the nasty Military Industrial Complex (not just their tool shed). If that doesn’t get her killed she could pass for tough enough.
Those are my thoughts, all for free.
didt kyle reese die in terminator 1 ?
I liked all of the episodes until they started the UFO hunt. What the hell was that good for? Anything but UFO’s would have been better. UFO’s killed Twin Peaks, and they make me think of The X-files, which sometimes was very inspired by the Terminator movies. It’s just wrong and stupid.
Terminator resistance fighters, wasn’t that just a line Cameron used to trick the (Cameron) girl in the future? I like character Weaver, and the scenes in her factory are enjoyable, but at the same time what she’s building right now makes no sense. And why did they kill the shrink? He was great! I was looking forward to a developing relationship between him and Sarah, or him an John.
About Kyle, since we’ve seen him as a kid we know that you can co-exist with your future version sent back in time, which makes it possible for him to come back again. But by doing so they kind of let go of everything ‘normal’ in the show and suddenly everything becomes possible. Don’t know if that’s such a good idea. But they did find a good place for Beverly Hills David in the show, so let’s wait and see with this one.
I have two theories on how Kyle appearing in 2008 could work. The most obvious explanation is that this is a T 888 that was made to look like Kyle Reese. In this case I have no idea whose side he is on it could go ether way. My second theory is a little harder to believe. Sarah and company have changed to future considerably with there actions in 2007 and 2008. It is possible that all of their actions have somehow allowed Kyle to survive. I will admit this is hard for even me to buy, but we did learn that there are alternate futures which make things like this possible. I have said before that I saw Kyle during the Fall Finale, but I thought Sarah was seeing things like I said before. As for Kyle’s mission well we all know what his original mission was protect Sarah Connor. Is this the same deal I hope not? He could be here to protect John my problem with this is between Sarah Cameron and Derek John should have plenty of protection from Terminators. If this is a T 888 he could be here to kill John. I feel I should also point out that Kyle does not appear to have aged at all. If the timeline has changed and Kyle survived his mission in 1984 would he not be like 46 or so by 2008? Why has he not aged? If John sent him back to 2008 then he was not there in 1984 to father John. They better have a damn good explanation for this. I am sorry for the long post/rant sorry.
Bringing Kyle Reese in… I don’t know if it’s wise. The show’s writers aren’t the best either, so I have serious doubts about how they’re going to explain this one. This could be a one-way ticket to trainwreck-ville.
I have to agree the last couple episodes have not been very good. I have already said on here what I thought of the last two episodes so I will not go into it again, Kyle Reese is a great character and I am a fan of him but, I can’t see how they can make this work without messing up the entire timeline. I can’t wait to see how they try to sell bringing him back. I feel I should also point out that I believe this is why Derek Reese was brought created for the show in the first place. I remember an interview at comic con with Josh Friedman. He said something about bringing Kyle back then but then decided to go with the less controversial agile of giving him a brother instead. That is where Derek Reese came from. I guess Josh changed his mind again.
“Kyle” said “Come with me if you wanna live”.. thats the same phrase the T800 used in T2;T3.
And that UFO was most likely a prebuild version of an HK AERIAL.
The phrase was first said by Kyle Reese in the first Terminator movie. It was later said by Arnold in T2. It was not said in T3 (John did say “you wanna live, come on!”). Cameron said it in the pilot of TSCC.
cameron nerde yaa…………….
Frankly, I find the introduction of Kyle Reese completely unnecessary to provide any kind of a plot twist. Instead of more cast, they need better stories. Stories which are more character driven; allow each person to shine more. Stories need to offer more intrigue and suspense. The stories should show how the fight in the present day is effecting the fight in the future and vice versa. An action being taken by someone in the present needs to also show the future consequences of that action. Also they need to show how the actions of people sent back in time can have consequences far beyond the original intentions of that character. The Terminator story has a whole mine of rich stories. They’ve only given us taste of, but too often you have to go through several plates of hamburgers before tasting a nice sirloin. I don’t wish to sound to pessimistic of the series. I think it has great potential. They just need someone like the creator of “LOST” to give it that right polish. I’m willing to give the series a chance. Going back several years to another franchise, Star Trek, the fans thought the first couple of seasons were bad on a couple of the new series, ST:TNG and ST:DS9, but the stories slowly improved and each of the characters grew into fully developed individuals which the fans fondly remember. Us Fans of the Terminator franchise need to give the creators of this TV series an equal chance.
this is really confusing…….
1)wazzup with the UFOS???
2)why is kyle reese gonna show up
3)wats that metal looking thing in the preview 4 february where weaver is talkin with cromatie
…is that supposed 2 be like the terminator in T3 where it was able to contorl other machines???
I’m sorry but isn’t there enough story going on in this show right now? I loved the first series and assured so many friends it wasn’t the failure many critics said it was gonna be…
Losing faith now though which is maybe down to the writers. I’m at the point where I’m losing interest about a few of the hundred questions this show asks.
For example – Cameron loves John
Cameron has a Job
Jesse is a psycho
what the hell is Weaver upto
how was the terminator’s skin on its face replaced?
Why was Reily sent back
The list goes on & on. And now we have Kyle Reese back why?? And since when do Terminator fans desire the possiblity of UFOS?!?!
This show has forgotten what it’s fans want to see I think. Please win me back TSCC!
I love the idea of seeing more of Jonathan Jackson as Kyle Reese. One I have been a fan of JJs since he was on GH and second I think Kyle Reese always gets pushed into the background of the Terminator saga, and the father of the future deserves better.
As far as JJ not looking like Michael Biehn, Lena Headly doesn’t look like Linda Hamilton. And as for JJ being “younger” than Michael Beihn’s Kyle Reese, JJ is 26 and Michael Beihn was 28 when Terminator came out in 1984, so not a big age difference.
I am a fan of Kyle Reese to, but I feel I should point out that the reason Kyle is pushed into the backround is beacuse he is dead, It is hard to impact the story when your dead.
“You’re not human.”
“Is that so?” <- THIS! I LOVE THIS.
