Sarah Connor Chronicles Premieres Today!

By Sam (Admin) | January 13, 2008 (7:07 pm)

Well I really should have put this up earlier today, but I was so out of it thanks to a raging cold, that I’ve barely managed to dragged myself out of bed to make this post. So, the Sarah Connor Chronicles will be premiering on FOX later tonight (now, as I type this, actually, Central Time) with an hour episode, followed by a second episode tomorrow. Once you’ve seen it, head back here and tell us what you thought of the pilot. So does SCC have potential? Can it survive the Writer’s Strike? This is your space to SOUND OFF on the premiere episode of The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

I’ve been watching all of the Terminator movies in anticipation of the Sarah Connor Chronicles. I am not impressed with the first episode. Headley doesn’t seem as rabid or tough enough to compete with Linda Hamilton’s performance as Sarah Connor.

Why are they sending the old model terminators? What happened to the liquid metal models? Probably budget not big enough for those special effects.

Time travel? Whoa! And the FBI guy and her ex-fiance haven’t aged day in 8 years? Come on!

I’ll watch tomorrow night because I hope the show improves. This household is a big Terminator fan!

All in all, I have to say that I was pleased with the new TV show. For those who are upset by it or for those who want to say that it’s not “up to par,” let me just remind you of the Terminator tagline, the one Reese first said to Sarah clear back in 1984, and the one that sent Sarah off to LA to get Miles Dyson. The future isn’t set! The fact that Summer’s terminator said she was from 2027, not 2029 like the others, is a sure thing that it’s a different future we’re talking about, and why not? Although the future isn’t set, isn’t it a fact that we make the future by the choices we make in the present? Just as an example, if you were to turn left at an intersection instead of right, you’d end up in a different place. Just give the series a chance to find its own bearings. Personally, I think Fox owes it to Summer (and the rest of the Firefly crew) to give them a show where they can really thrive since they killed Firefly way too soon.

The pilot episode was amazing!! The more I think about it the more I can see that they tied it in with all 3 movies…..and going back to Miles Dysons house was awesome!! The best part was that you find out that John Connor sent someone back in time to build a time machine in 1963. CRAZY! Now it seems they are kind of stuck in the present, but before the nuclear blasts of T3.

The new girl Terminator is BETTER than TX.

This new Terminator series focuses more on the action over the story, from what i’ve seen so far. Cameron is the terminator that can actually show emotion, and Summer does her well. Sarah and John are predictable in a sense, but we have seen their characters before, so it’s understandable. But Cameron/Summer doesn’t disappoint us. Even though the show is called the Sarah Connor Chronicles, Cameron took hold of my interest when she appears. I was always looking at how she shows emotion and other facial expressions.
This show will have it’s airtime since it does focus on the action more than Firefly. That’s what Fox focuses on…Action/comedy.

**spoiler/inside joke**
In the beginning, if the dream was real…”Wow that was a fast season. Desert, anyone?”

Anyone else bothered by the fact that the terminator skull passed through the time portal in the second half of the pilot? Isn’t that a MAJOR incongruity in the story? Also, Lena’s Sarah Connor is way too soft, not edgy and tormented like Linda Hamilton’s Sarah Connor… and when she’s edgy, it seems overdone. I hate how she calls Kyle “Kyle Reese”. It was always either Kyle or Reese. Do you call someone you love by their full name? And as another poster stated, the terminator that was in the classroom, when he turned around and said, “Class dismissed”, I cringed. I hope this series improves and that this is just the teething process of a new show.

First let me say, when I heard they were making this series it did not sit well with me, the movies were eough. Since Firefly and Serenity, I am a big Summer Glau fan, so I gave it a chance. In a word, “Horrible”! The cast was fine, I had no problem with a brunette Sarah Connor and the kid was fine. Terminators hiding guns inside themselves? The witty line, “Class is dismissed” from the T-800? A futuristic weapon built in the 1960’s. Summer’s model (whatever it could be) eats? The T-800 seeing the SWAT team and identifing the weapons and leaving them behind to fight hand to hand? The terrible makeup on the T-800. Then TIME TRAVEL?!?!?! The Terminator series was inventive and for the most part original. This TV series is nothing more then the bastardizing of something good. One more reason TV shows are becoming less and less entertaining

I totally agree that nonliving tissue should not be able to pass through the time portal. Plus, massive head trauma killed terminators in previous films, so why does a small nuclear blast that decapitates him not kill him now? I like the idea of a covert war being fought between terminators and humans in our present, but if these terminators are around, why the need to break the laws of the terminator universe for the first cyborg to come through? Can’t Skynet just send the same model through again to 2007? Also, I love the “class dissmissed line”. The terminator franchise has been built on sappy one-liners. I’m hoping for more…

The Terminator in the original movie did not have snappy one-liners. There were “trademark” phrases like “I’ll be back” but it wasn’t until the second terminator movie when John Connor started teaching the Terminator how to “not be a dork” that the one-liners appeared. To me, it was awkward for this terminator to say something clever.

i believe some of these comments are a little too harsh… the show is trying to reach out to new people who may not know the full story, so with “kyle reese” instead of just “resse” that’s the writers making it easier for all the dummies to understand. as a fan of all the terminator movies, i love all the concepts they’ve brought forth so far, time travel, creating skin, resistance fighters, etc. even in the comics from ages ago they would just take sheets of skin and wrap future weapons up like a christmas present and take them to the past. 1 more thought, the show is reaching out to people like my girlfriend who i could barley get to watch T2. now she loves Summer and the storyline and everything, i never thought she would be a terminator fan. thanks for letting me ramble!

Isn’t it possible, like so many other things that we’re going to see in the continuation of what is TERMINATOR lore, that you CAN, take “anything dead” - and that they were telling Kyle that so as to not contaminate the time stream by having weapons and future stuff “stuck in the future” that someone might stumble across and re-engineer thereby starting Cyberdyne/Skynet?

You have to remember that the “rules” are something that were originally “made up” by someone at some time. That it’s a time-travel series the gloves come off, folks.
