School Shooting Scene Reworked for Pilot

There is an early scene in The Sarah Connor Chronicles where a Terminator disguises himself as a substitute teacher in order to get to John. When the Terminator comes face to face with John, they are both in a classroom, and the Terminator, being the cold-blooded killing machine that he is, pulls out a gun and starts shooting. Well apparently that was too much for FOX, especially in light of the Virginia Tech college campus shooting, because news is that the scene is being “reworked”, whatever that means.

Josh Friedman, an executive producer on the Fox TV show, has defended the scenes, which see 15-year-old John Connor come under attack in his classroom.

He believed the incident was central to the show’s theme, Fox Entertainment chairman Peter Liguori told the US Television Critics’ Association.

“This woman is charged with protecting and preparing her son to be the future leader of the resistance,” Mr Liguori said.

“The one single place a parent has to give up control of their child is school.”

Mr Friedman was the first to acknowledge the scenes should be changed in the wake of the deaths in Virginia, Mr Liguori added, but he was unable to say how the story would be changed.

I hope they don’t change the scene TOO much. It’s violent, for sure, but it’s just a scene from a TV show shot BEFORE the Virginia Tech shootings, so it’s not like FOX is trying to “cash in” on it. I think they should leave it alone, especially since there are other scenes that depend on that particular sequence.

But this being TV, and it’s not a good idea to piss off the American public, so chances are it MIGHT get heavily edited or replaced completely.
