Terminator Salvation Scheduled for 2009

Warner Bros. sure isn’t wasting any time with the upcoming fourth installment of the Terminator franchise, titled “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins”. With the major casts just recently established (led by Christian Bale and Sam Worthington, as John Connor and the mysterious Marcus, respectively), the WB has announced that T4 will be released in the Summer of 2009, pitting it against the Ben Stiller sequel to “Night at the Museum”.

More:

That puts two tentpoles on the same date, even though the release calendar for summer 2009 is still relatively open.

Twentieth Century Fox had already staked out May 22 for the bow of the Ben Stiller sequel “Night at the Museum II: Escape From the Smithsonian.” First film grossed $250.9 million domestically.

Warner will distribute the pic in North America through a deal with Halcyon Co., which owns all franchise rights to the “Terminator” series.

T4 versus “Night at the Museum 2″? It won’t even be a contest. Get read to eat dust, Ben Stiller.

I think the Chronicles Series are fantastic. I am a huge terminator fan, as is just about everyone. Come on. how can you not like the franchise. Loved it, but if i had to pick on things, id say, up the number of terminators, up the special effects. More scenes of the robots fighting, forget the flesh, the metal only looks unreal. I hope this series runs for at least 5- or 6 series. Keep it alive!!

About T3. First of all it was way too short. So they had/did get through too much story in too little time. This means something has to go. Now to the story and specifically John connor. He’d been in trouble, foster homes etc then almost gunned downed then saved by the very things he hated his mom for. He discovers that she maybe be nuts but she was also right. Everything she said was true. Now they go and destroy, they think, the last possible chance. But he knows that isn’t it. His mom dies and he’s on his own. So in anger, lost and scared to death, he does everything he can to avoid his fate; a fate that has to be tied into destroying mankind remember; the only way to do that is to dissappear. the only way to do that now is to be a nobody. OFF THE GRID. He wasn’t a whiner, or a baby, he was a loner hoping that if he stays a bum he can avoid the terrible event that has to happen for him to become great. Well he’d rather not be great then. Wouldn’t you? so it all comes back again on him. Terminators still showing up. So all this time of running, hiding meant nothing. His ’sacrificing’ his life meant nothing. as he said. How would you act if you knew the only way you could be great is if everyone nearly died? What would you act like if you knew you could never lead a normal life, because unstoppable machines could find you? You probably wouldn’t be real sociable, would you. No human contact for fear of getting on the grid. You have to be alone to save humanity. Or so he thought. I thought he did a good job. I thought the script was way too short and didn’t touch on the human elements as the first two did. Think about it. Catherine Bruster. Well her entire character arc should have been taken from T1 Sarah Connor. She should have went thru the near same emotional revelations that Sarah did. Viscerally and deeply. John should be world weary, nothing he can do can stop it, fate or a terminator. I’d be pretty touchy too. So watch T3 again and note how many minutes it really is. The first one is 2 hours, the second 2:20. T3 is what, 1 and a half? Not nearly enough to establish what they should have. By the way, how the hell did they get into the military base WITH weapons so easily? Because the guy in charge is her daddy? really?

Yeah, T3 doesnt exist for me. TSCC is awesome and goes back to formula. The whole point of the Terminator was that one day the world we live in is could possibly be destroyed by creating A.I. so intellegent that it becomes self aware and deems the “imperfect” race on earth to be extinct, But one man can stop these machines. A computer Hacker and a warrior named John Connor. Not Catherine Bruster, You’d think in T3 that John was still continuing his training, just like sarah in T2. I would have loved to see the nice witty little John turn part paranoid and driven like his mother and Reese… a storm is coming. Terminator 2, we learn that humanity is worth saving, and that we become so wrapped up in technology that we forget family and emotions that make us human. And to learn… Skynets T800 chip has a wall that stops the man/machine from learning to much, where in T3 did any of that continuity happen? No fate but what we make… T3 made fun of the franchise, simple as that. Dont kill Sarah off!!!! We need her so that If the future is saved, there is resolution. This isnt bond or batman where you can tell multiple stories, its a one shot story. Im glad we get to see what happens after T2, theres definatly a story in this that wont wreck the world that is the connors and the altinate reality they fought to prevent.
TSCC goes back and reminds us that Sarah must protect her son, because in the Terminators future he is the future leader of the resistence, and that syberdyne didnt end at Dyson. from the future… One to kill John. One to protect Him. Laser scanned rebels, time travel, scary murderous Terminators, shoot em up action all the characters from the first two movies and more!!! Grab Skynet by the balls and prevent Judgement Day! cos T3 can suck mine!
