McG Says He’s Directing T5 and T6

McG says he’s directing “Terminator 5″ and “6″. Or at least, he says he is. IGN reports: During the live commentary for the movie over the weekend (that was available to those how had bought the film on Blu-ray) he said that – no matter which studio inherits the series...

Thanks, FOX: TSCC’s Ratings for Good Wound is Lowest Ever

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, because the last time I tried to tell people that FOX moving TSCC to a new Friday timeslot was the kiss of death, I got eviscerated for it. Well, there was a reason I told you what I told you when I last wrote about the new timeslot here. It’s because, as I said then and it holds true now, Friday nights is where FOX moves all of its shows it wants to let die a slow, quiet death. It’s been like that since the X-Files went off the air, and nothing has changed since.

The bad news from THR on ratings for “The Good Wound”, the first episode of TSCC’s Season 2 post-Winter break:

“Dollhouse” was paired with the midseason return of “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” (3.7 million, 1.3/5), which was shifted from its previous Monday post. “Terminator” came in third place in the hour and hit a series low (by like 27%). “Terminator” beat NBC’s “Howie Do It” (3.9 million, 1.2/4), but not by much. Both “Ghost Whisperer” (10.3 million, 2.4/8) and “Wife Swap” (4.3 million, 1.5/5) did better.

The performances represent a disappointing debut for what was, on paper, a good idea: creating a male-skewing sci-fi block to go against CBS’ night-topping female-skewing crime shows. Fox didn’t expect to win against CBS, but had some hope of coming out ahead of ABC’s reality shows. But “Terminator” was sinking in the ratings earlier this season and “Dollhouse” has suffered from negative buzz and creative trouble for months. Critics, overall, seemed disappointed with Whedon’s latest effort.

Not only didn’t the show improve in the ratings, but it did 27% worst than its previous worst rating of the year. Holy hell. That’s bad. So what are the chances that the show will improve in the ratings? I haven’t a clue. You could say that moving the show from its usual Monday night was the culprit, since many fans might not have gotten the memo and forgot to tune in. That could be one big reason why the ratings are so poor.

There are still a lot of ways for TSCC to return for a third season, despite its low ratings, which is usually the kiss of death for an expensive show like this. Unfortunately it’s looking like the show’s entire future depends on one thing: a huge box office return for “Terminator Salvation” at the theaters this summer. The movie’s success would open a whole new area of promotion for the TV show, and encourage FOX to take the risk on a third season.

I wouldn’t give up on the show just yet, guys, but I will grant you that it’s looking very bleak at this point.

It may have lost viewers, but remember, there are less expectations on Friday night. With the exception of Dog Whisperer, it was pretty much on par with the competition.

how can this show have a low rating?
there r so many crappier shows out there… i dont get it

crappier shows that have higher ratings than this show**

The biggest problem I have with this is the phrase “creating a male-skewing sci-fi block to go against CBS’ night-topping female-skewing crime shows.” Dollhouse and T:SCC have just as many female fans as crap whisperer. Stupid FOX. They never get it right.

most people like gay shows and shows like csi wich is always about somebody got kille were gonna solve it and at the end of the show we see how he got killed…….. in every show…

let us terminate the idiots of society !!!! and bring rome back on 2 that show was awesome…… but i dont have anything against gays just dont let um effect good tv for christ sake!!!!!!!!

Uh. Wtf @ the last comment.

Anyway…

TSCC is, by far, one of the very best shows on TV right now. Personally, I think it’s leagues beyond Lost, which I am also a fan of. But, damn, Fox really messed up the return of TSCC S2. What the hell was the marketing (i.e. the fact that there was barely any?!). The Grindhouse ads probably pissed a lot of people off too in that they were very misleading. Made loyal fans antsy about whether the show’s creators had sold out and made people (mostly guys I assume) who were tuning in to see Cameron/Summer blow stuff up/kick ass/take off clothes feel deceived.

I don’t know. I’m hoping people are HULUing it up… I’ll be so sad if this show gets tossed…

Although I have lost interest in the show ever since I’ve been keeping up with all the Terminator Salvation news, I will continue to support T:SCC by watching it no matter what day it’s on. The ratings for the show may just keep going down, but hopefully it will put in some major hype for Terminator Salvation.

Hey!
There may have been many like me. I forgot!
It has been so long since there was anything on Friday worth watching, I didn’t turn on the TV until it was over. You can bet THIS Friday I’ll be home in front of my set!

This is really bad. Fox did the same thing to Dark Angel before they terminated it, it was moved to a Friday slot and then it’s ratings sank and it was the end of the line for it. I LOVE this show and all the characters and the whole Terminator legend behind it. I really really hope that it’ll make it.

All I gotta say is: HANG IN THERE BABY!!!!!!!!

I only have ONE wish:

“Please wrap up the story, do not let the show end on a bunch of un aswered questions”

what i mean is, if the show is going to die, at least make it so the last 2 or 3 episodes wrap up the story, give it closure. I dont know how many shows ended up without finishing the story (The Pretender, X-files in a way)

The x-files died when Duchovney and Anderson left, plus poor story script writing that were re-hashes from seasons 1 & 2. If Fox kill this series off, they will be shooting themselves in the foot (again) TSCC now has a world wide following and fan base. Look at what happened too Star Trek, and what it evolved into years later.

How is it earthly possible that we’re getting these kind of ratings with THIS competition? Of course we’re going to lose to “Ghost Whisper” hands down, but “Wife Swap”? And some other crap this week, too. I’m trying to stay optimistic, but it’s getting harder and harder. Of course, I will be staying with the show no matter where it goes, but some people aren’t going to be as faithful, especially with the plot that I see coming from it. I really am trying not to sound critical and all, but…..
For everyone that is even bothering to read this, just stay faithful and “Hang in there, baby!”

I wonder if there are a lot of people out there like me…I don’t have a lot of time to watch TV during the week (Friday night or otherwise) and I just bought the first season on Blu Ray (and watched it in 2 days lol). I’m completely hooked on the story, but I hate waiting for the new episode to come out every week. Like I do with Rescue Me and The Shield (both awesome) I wait for the last season to come out on DVD and go on a binge. I guess I’m hurting the ratings casue they don’t see me watching it on Friday nights? Also what about those who download it on iTunes or something? How does fox know if we’re watching it? Just some questions for Fox I suppose. As it’s been said I hope the new movie revitalizes the franchise and gets the kids addicted to lame ass “reality” TV shows to watch good ‘ol action shows again.

the show is really good and still has so much potential. I have been watching tv for a long time and have never had to worry about a great show being canceled. It doesn’t make sence.
They should at least try and maybe change the name and stop focusing on Sarah and keep it on the other 3 which I think people like better anyway before they cancel espially since the movie will be the best advertising you can get even though Bale is not in the show.

read that this was the site to post my anger on fox for the cancellation of the Sarah Connor Chronicles. Its a dam shame, i live in Australia and they haven’t even aired the second season yet. I admit i didn’t take to tscc at first but now i love it. I couldn’t believe after watching season 2 online that fox canceled it. Don’t let this show be another Freaks and Geeks or undeclared BRILLIANT shows that got the boot before it had a chance to blitzkrieg. BRING BACK TSCC before it’s too late……………
